WEEK 18 (FYP SEM 2 )             2 SEPTEMBER 2012

TITLE: Feeder circuit

OBJECTIVE: Designing Feeder circuit

CONTENT / PROCEDURE:

Feeder circuit is the main role in this project. It control the operation of the whole project. I still in designing my feeder circuit. As for now, I has some problem regarding the programming. I now working for C++ programming. For the alarm setting, after undergo a few meeting with my fellow programming lecturer, Sir Tan, he suggest me to use timer interrupt. The program is still under discussion.

ANALYSIS / RESULT :

As for the circuit, it not being construct yet. I bought some component regarding this feeder circuit. At first I trying to construct a simple timer circuit using 555 IC but still it does not finish yet. For another feeder circuit which using real clock display on LCD, it still under discussion as it need detail wiring and I still on researching. But of course, the basic component that it have are: diode, Led, LCD, capacitor, voltage regulator, resistor, mini slide switch, IC, buzzer, button and so on.

CONCLUSION :

I hope I can finish this within this few weeks and thus can start running the whole program as soon as possible.

WEEK 17 ( FYP SEM 2)              2 SEPTEMBER 2012

TITLE: Blade for the feeder

OBJECTIVE: To design the blade for the feeder

CONTENT/ PROCEDURE:

In this project, the blade play the significant role to drop the food. The design of the blade must withstand the weight of the amount of foods. Besides, the timing of the blades to move need detail attention as it will result the overall operation of the feeder. At first, I design the blades by using perspex as shown below, but then it broke into pieces.

RESULT/ ANALYSIS:

So, as for now, I choose to design a blade using plastic pipes as shown below. It has screw on each end of the blade which can be use to adjust the balance of the blade. For now, the blades move pretty fast when supply being fed to the motor, thus, I need to setting the timing of the motor to ensure the blade moves like desire.

CONCLUSION:

As conclusion, the blades needs details design construction and programming to ensure it moving smoothly.

WEEK 16 (FYP SEM 2)             1 SEPTEMBER 2012

TITLE : DC Motor design

OBJECTIVE : To design a holder for DC motor

CONTENT / PROCEDURE:

For my project, I had buy a DC motor 92H with maximum voltage 24V and  high torque which can withstand some weights. In my project, this DC motor will be attach together with the blade under the container. In order to ensure the motor will move the blade smoothly, it must be grip and deeper attention is needed to handle this problem.

motor need a holder

RESULT / ANALYSIS:

As for now, the holder for the motor need to be done by welding it to the base of the container like shown below.  But then, its not finalize yet as the design is still being discuss as I am working to create the stand for the project.

the holder design for now

CONCLUSION:

I hope I will finish this matter as soon as possible as there a lots of things to be done regarding the project.

WEEK 15 (FYP SEM 2)                  1 SEPTEMBER 2012

TITLE     : Buck Converter

OBJECTIVE : Designing a buck converter 12V to 5V

CONTENT / PROCEDURE:

From Wikipedia, a buck converter is a step-down DC to DC converter. For my project, I need a 12V to 5V DC Converter as the circuit for my feeder operate with 5V while the supply being fed is 12V.

RESULT/ ANALYSIS:

Before building the circuit, I had run a simulation of the circuit using multisim software. The result come out really suit well.

After the simulation has provide the result, I then proceed in constructing the circuit. Like in simulation, the circuit is functioning well.

CONCLUSION:

Alhamdulilah, this circuit run perfectly. The supply after being step down can be use to run my feeder circuit.
